Job Description

The Nuclear Engineer develops neutron and gamma diagnostics and performs radiation-transport analysis for fusion experiments. The position supports experimental characterisation, shielding design, radiation safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Implement neutron and gamma diagnostic systems.
• Validate radiation-detection equipment experimentally.
• Analyse radiation data from fusion campaigns.
• Perform source characterisation and spectral analysis.
• Develop Monte Carlo radiation-transport simulations.
• Design shielding for mixed neutron and gamma environments.
• Perform dose and environmental-safety assessments.
• Support regulatory and operational radiation-safety activities.

Eligibility

• Master’s degree or PhD in nuclear engineering, physics or a related discipline.
• Strong experience with Monte Carlo particle-transport modelling.
• Practical experience with neutron and gamma detection.
• Knowledge of shielding and radiation-dose calculations.
• Ability to satisfy applicable US export-control requirements.
