Job Description
The engineer supports Boeing’s Composite Materials Fabrication Site in Mesa and works across laboratory, factory and design activities. The position applies materials science, chemistry and physics to develop composite materials, qualify processing methods, investigate failures and solve production problems.
The engineer works directly with manufacturing teams to control composite-material performance, improve production processes and ensure that fabricated structures comply with engineering, quality and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
• Apply chemistry, physics and materials science to composite manufacturing.
• Develop and qualify composite materials and processing methods.
• Define requirements for materials, parts, tooling and manufacturing processes.
• Support material and process qualification testing.
• Analyse composite-material and production failures.
• Conduct root-cause and corrective-action investigations.
• Resolve factory material and processing problems.
• Review composite engineering drawings and specifications.
• Develop material and process specifications.
• Support supplier and internal production qualification.
• Improve manufacturing quality, safety and efficiency.
• Prepare technical reports and qualification documentation.
Eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
• Relevant engineering, manufacturing or materials-science experience appropriate to Level 2 or Level 3.
• Experience with composite materials or composite manufacturing processes.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and material specifications.
• Meet U.S. Person export-control requirements.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance requiring U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to work the second shift on-site in Mesa.
• Employer visa sponsorship is not available.
