Job Description
The Senior Durability Validation Engineer will plan and execute tests that demonstrate the durability and reliability of Rivian vehicles and their mechanical systems. The engineer will convert customer-use conditions into laboratory, proving-ground and vehicle-level tests, analyse failures and guide corrective actions. The position works closely with design, CAE, materials and testing organisations throughout vehicle development.
Responsibilities
• Develop component, subsystem and complete-vehicle durability-validation plans.
• Translate customer usage and engineering requirements into representative test cycles.
• Coordinate laboratory, proving-ground and road-test activities.
• Select instrumentation and data-acquisition methods.
• Monitor testing and evaluate structural or mechanical performance.
• Investigate failures using physical evidence and engineering data.
• Coordinate corrective actions with design, materials, CAE and supplier teams.
• Correlate physical test results with simulation predictions.
• Document test methods, results, risks and recommendations.
• Support programme validation through production approval.
Eligibility
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Materials Engineering, or a related field.
• Relevant professional experience in vehicle or mechanical durability validation.
• Understanding of structural loads, fatigue, instrumentation and failure analysis.
• Strong organisational, communication and relationship-building ability.
• Ability to manage several engineering priorities in a fast-paced environment.
