Programme Overview
Harvard University's Master of Science in Data Science provides advanced interdisciplinary education in statistics, computer science and data-driven computational methods.
Students complete 12 graduate courses covering the mathematical, statistical and computational foundations required to analyse complex datasets and develop data-driven systems.
The programme develops skills relevant to machine learning, statistical modelling, algorithms, data systems and computational analysis.
Students normally complete the programme across at least three semesters, with an optional thesis route available.
Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold or complete a recognised Bachelor's degree or equivalent before enrolment.
Applicants should demonstrate strong quantitative preparation suitable for graduate study in data science.
Relevant preparation may include:
Computer Science
Mathematics
Statistics
Engineering
Applied Mathematics
Other highly quantitative fields
Applicants should have suitable mathematical and programming preparation.
Applications are submitted through Harvard Griffin GSAS and are assessed competitively.
English-Language Requirements
Applicants whose previous education does not satisfy Harvard Griffin GSAS English-language exemption requirements must provide approved evidence of English proficiency.
Applicants should verify the currently accepted tests, score requirements and exemption rules through Harvard Griffin GSAS before applying.
