Programme Overview
The University of Edinburgh Signal Processing and Communications MSc provides advanced postgraduate education in modern communications and signal-processing technologies.
Students study digital communication fundamentals, discrete-time signal analysis, probability and estimation, image processing and advanced signal-processing methods.
The curriculum progresses into advanced wireless communications, adaptive signal processing, coding techniques, array processing and MIMO systems, and machine learning applications in signal processing.
Practical and computational work develops experience in analysing, simulating and implementing communication and signal-processing algorithms.
Students also complete a substantial individual research project and thesis, allowing them to apply their technical knowledge to an advanced engineering problem.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should normally hold a strong undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or another closely related quantitative discipline.
Applicants should have suitable preparation in mathematics, signals and systems, probability, electronics, digital communications or related technical subjects.
The programme requires sufficient mathematical and computational preparation for advanced study in communications, signal processing and machine learning.
Admission is competitive and meeting the minimum academic requirement does not guarantee an offer.
