The University of Manchester Advanced Computer Science MSc provides flexible advanced education across modern computer science.

Students can select technical areas aligned with Manchester's research strengths, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, cyber security, data engineering, software engineering and human-computer interaction.

The programme combines advanced academic study with practical computing and an individual project applying computational methods to a substantial technical problem.

Entry Requirements

Successful applicants typically hold a First-class honours degree with approximately a 70% average, or an equivalent international qualification, in Computer Science.

The previous degree should normally contain at least 50% Computer Science content.

Applicants must demonstrate a strong computer science background, including programming and software-development skills.

For applicants from India, Manchester states that a typical successful applicant may require approximately 65% First Class with Distinction in an appropriate BSc Engineering, BEng or BTech degree, depending on the institution.
