Programme Overview
Strathclyde's BEng Mechanical Engineering develops broad engineering expertise in the design, analysis and operation of machines, devices and energy systems.
Students study mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, structural mechanics, materials, mathematics, design and control.
Engineering design and practical problem solving are embedded throughout the curriculum.
Students complete an individual engineering project and can participate in activities including Formula Student and the University of Strathclyde Eco Vehicle Society.
The programme is professionally accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Scholarship Information
Faculty of Engineering International Scholarship New self-funded international non-EU students beginning undergraduate engineering study in September 2026 are eligible for a 15% tuition-fee reduction. Additional Faculty and industry scholarships may also be available.
