Programme Overview

The University of Cambridge MPhil in Electrical and Electronic Engineering is an advanced full-time postgraduate programme designed to provide specialist technical knowledge and research experience across modern electrical and electronic engineering.

Students can explore areas including RF and space electronics, microelectronics, VLSI design, electronic devices, circuits and systems, communications, photonics and related advanced technologies.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should normally hold a strong undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Engineering, Physics or another closely related quantitative discipline.

Applicants should demonstrate strong preparation in mathematics and relevant electrical or electronic engineering subjects.

Suitable backgrounds may include communications, RF engineering, electronic circuits, signal processing, microelectronics, photonics, control, computer engineering or related technical areas.

The application is assessed on academic achievement, technical preparation, references, motivation and suitability for advanced postgraduate study and research.

Admission is competitive and meeting the minimum academic requirement does not guarantee an offer.

English-Language Requirements

Applicants whose previous education does not satisfy the University of Cambridge English-language exemption criteria must meet the English-language requirement published for the MPhil in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.

Accepted qualifications may include IELTS Academic, TOEFL and other Cambridge-approved English-language tests.

Scholarship Information
