Programme Overview

The University of Surrey Satellite Communications Engineering MSc provides specialist postgraduate education in modern satellite communication systems and emerging non-terrestrial networks.

Students develop knowledge of satellite communication technologies, digital communications, satellite payloads, ground stations, RF and microwave systems, modulation, coding and satellite-network architecture.

The programme examines the integration of satellites with future 5G and 6G communication networks and includes advanced topics relating to satellite constellations, high-throughput satellites, communication security and modern wireless technologies.

Students study taught engineering modules and complete an individual 60-credit project that may involve engineering design or research.

The programme benefits from Surrey's Institute for Communication Systems, Surrey Space Centre and extensive research and industrial links in satellite and telecommunications engineering.

Entry Requirements

Applicants normally need at least a UK 2:2 honours degree or an equivalent recognised international qualification.
