Programme Overview

The MEng Electronic & Electrical Engineering programme provides integrated Master's-level education across electronics and electrical engineering.

Students study analogue and digital electronics, electrical systems, signal processing, software, communications and control.

Later study offers advanced technical options and research-led projects in fields including renewable energy, communications, cybersecurity and intelligent systems.

Students complete both an individual research project and an advanced multidisciplinary group project.

The programme is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology and fulfils educational requirements toward Chartered Engineer registration.

Entry Requirements

Applicants require strong secondary-school preparation in Mathematics and Physics or Engineering Science.

Typical qualifications include Scottish Highers, A Levels, International Baccalaureate or equivalent international qualifications.

Admission to the MEng carries a higher entry profile than the corresponding BEng.

Scholarship Information

Eligible new self-funded international non-EU Faculty of Engineering undergraduate students beginning in September 2026 receive a 15% tuition-fee scholarship. Industry-supported scholarships, bursaries, summer placements and mentoring may also be available through the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering.
